I'm Dan Millen — a solo developer in Florida, 25 years in.
I've spent most of my career building software for other people — a quarter century of platforms, teams and roadmaps I didn't write. Eleven30 is the part I do for myself: a collection of personal projects, built because I wanted them to exist.
Both apps started as small irritations. The tip calculator came from watching my wife juggle two or three separate apps at the table — one with a full-screen ad standing between her and the answer — just to work out what to write on the receipt. The launch app came from missing a launch I could have watched from my own driveway.
Same instinct either way: do the arithmetic for the person, and show your work.
I answer the support email myself. There's no team behind the address.

How I work
I'd rather ship four screens that are right than twelve that are nearly right.
Decisions, mistakes and reversals go on the blog while they're still uncomfortable.
Every permission and every field has to earn itself. Most don't.
